    Plaquenil dosage according to weight

Part of that is due to less exercise, part due to having no appetite thus feeling like anything I can get down is ok. Well, now I've been exercising at almost my pre-Lupus rate (ran a marathon a year before), eating a more moderate diet (clean protein, vegs & fruits), and am no longer taking that weight & bloat causing Prednisone (off Pred almost 2 yrs now). My question: Do you feel like you've gained weight on Plaquenil (ie without Prednisone)?

Plaquenil is the brand name for the prescription drug hydroxychloroquine. It's used to treat and prevent malaria infection, and to reduce symptoms and progression of autoimmune diseases such as. Melton & Thomas describe the typical safe Plaquenil dosage this way The usual dosage is two 200mg tablets per day. This is generally a "safe" dose for patients having a lean body weight of at least 135 lbs. The generally-regarded safe dosage is 6.5mg/kg/qd, thus the 135 lb. safety threshold. Discussion. A risk factor for Plaquenil hydroxychloroquine retinotoxicity is a daily dose that exceeds 5.0 mg of drug per kg of body weight. The tool on the right simply calculates this threshold based on a patient’s real body weight. It’s important to understand that the daily dose is only one risk factor for plaquenil retinotoxicity.

My Lupus has been really quiet for about 2 yrs, and I'm afraid to change anything. The Plaquenil drug side effects list weight loss, but some people have reported weight gain instead. My rheumy wants me to come down and then off my Plaquenil, but I've been resisting simply because I'm afraid to.
